Gita Mahatmya (Glories) and Kamika Ekadashi

Gita Mahatmya (Glories) by Shri Adi Shankaracharya

On 4th August,2021 Wednesday we have Kamika Ekadashi. In the previous post the importance of ekadashi and Do's and Don't were shared. On this auspicious day do read 700 slokas of Bhagvad Gita to purify your soul and surrender yourself in the  lotus feet of krishna and chant his name in form of  Krishna Mahamantra

Hare Krsna Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama , Rama Rama Hare Hare

Kamika Ekadashi is one of the most propitious and significant Ekadashi celebrations for the devotees of lord Vishnu. This is because it falls during chaturmas period, which is an auspicious four month period devoted to Lord Krishna. It is a religious belief that lord Vishnu fulfills all the wishes of his devotees when one worships him. Devotees use yellow clothes, yellow flowers and yellow colored worship materials  to please Lord Vishnu. That is why yellow color has special significance in kamika Ekadashi Fast,

By reading the following Gita Mahatmya By Adishankaracharya bless yourself with  love of lord.

Sri Adi Shankaracharya

Gita-Mahatmya 4

gitasu-gitakartavya                                                  गीता सुगीताकर्तव्या

kimanyaihshastra-vistaraih                                      किमन्यौ: शास्त्रविस्तरैः

mukha-padmadvinihsrita                                         मुखपद्माद्विनिः सृता

Transaltion- Each and every word of Bhagavad Gita is spoken by the supreme personality of godhead such that one does not have to read any other Vedic literature. One just have to hear and read Bhagavad Gita regularly attentively. In this present age of materialistic life full of mundane activities and task, it is practically impossible for us to read all the vedic literature which is not at all necessary because this one book Bhagavad Gita is an epitome and essence of all Vedic literature that exist in this world.
